An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CAD Designer to join a well-established and growing fire detection and protection specialist. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong technical background in fire alarm and emergency lighting system design, looking to play a key role in delivering high-quality, compliant solutions across a range of commercial and industrial projects.

Job Title: CAD Designer (Fire Detection & Protection)

Location: Remote working, with occasional travel to the Reading office

Salary: Up to £70,000 DOE

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed CAD drawings, layouts and schematics for fire detection and fire protection systems
• Design systems in accordance with current British Standards and client specifications
• Ensure all designs are fully compliant with relevant legislation and industry best practice
• Support projects from initial concept through to installation and final handover
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, surveyors and commercial teams throughout the project lifecycle
• Review and amend existing drawings to reflect design changes and site requirements
• Prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation
• Provide technical support to installation and commissioning teams where required
• Assist in developing and improving design processes and standards

Skills & Experience

• Must have experience designing in accordance with BS5839, BS5266 and BS7671
• Proven experience as a CAD Designer or Design Engineer within the Fire Detection and Fire Protection sector
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD
• FIA qualifications or other relevant fire industry certifications
• Excellent understanding of fire alarm systems, emergency lighting and associated electrical services
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings and construction plans
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication skills with a collaborative approach to working across departments
